What is Gokode?

Gokode is a lightweight message platform that is great for tagging things with conversation.

Gokodes can be associated with items, people, places, events, or anything you can imagine.

How do I create a Gokode?

On the Gokode homepage, enter an alphanumeric code, and a message. Then click ‘Create’. If you are not logged in, you will create an Independent Gokode. If you are logged in, this Gokode will be added to your account, and you can edit and update it.

Often a Gokode is written like gk:MARK, where 'MARK' is a Gokode.

How do I query a Gokode?

Currently, you can:

  1. Query a Gokode with a web browser. For example, to query gk:MARK on the web, enter gokode.com/mark in your web browser's address bar.
  2. If you are in the U.S., you can use your phone to query Gokodes with a SMS text message. For example, to query gk:MARK, text MARK to 465633 (GOKODE).
  3. At www.gokode.com, you can query a gokode by entering it in the 'Query a Gokode' field.

How do I join a conversation on a Gokode?

You can comment on a Gokode if the Gokode’s creator has enabled commenting. You must have an account to comment on a Gokode.

How do I follow a Gokode?

You can follow a Gokode by clicking ‘Follow this Gokode’ and you will be alerted when that Gokode is updated. If you like, you can choose to be notified with a SMS text message or an email when a Gokode you follow is updated.

How do I use Gokode?

That's up to you! Gokode enables you to create conversations for anything. Currently, people are using Gokode as...

What is an Independent Gokode?

If you are not logged in when you create a Gokode, it is an Independent Gokode. No one owns an Independent Gokode, and no one can edit it. Independent Gokodes usually disappear after 30 days. However, if an Independent Gokode is popular, it can live a bit longer.

Can anyone see my Gokodes?

Yes. At this time, all Gokodes are public. Gokode content is public, and comments on Gokodes are public. Assume that everyone can read what you write when you use Gokode. It’s an open service.

Is Gokode free?

Yes. However if you query Gokodes or get alerts by SMS text message, it’s possible that your phone carrier might charge you. Gokode is a Standard Rate SMS service. We don’t charge you anything for SMS queries, but your phone carrier might, depending on your text-messaging plan.

What is next for Gokode?

Many new functions for Gokode are in the hopper. We are deep in our beta-phase of development. Our staff is always working on a number of things in our secret laboratory. This secret laboratory is hidden in a mountain, on an island. However, the old salt that might ferry you there (for a price) has heard rumors that they are working on new ways to discover and share Gokodes.
